I feel a bit conceited for actually posting this, but I have no life outside of this so it's mostly what I'd like to talk about and ramble on for hours. (We really ought to have some sort of Meet the Staff or whatever that focuses on our real life selves. Just a thought.)
It's a little hard to explain exactly what colorguard and winterguard is. But basically, it's all about spinning flags, rifles, and sabres while moving to the given music. Colorguard performs along side with the marching band, adding the visual appeal to the show, and competes outdoors and on the streets during the fall season and sometimes even halftime shows in football games. Winterguard uses recorded music of any sort and competes indoors, usually in a gym, in the winter/spring season.
-Marching Band and Colorguard competing in band reviews. (Yes, I am in it. ;P)
-Performing halftime in our school's homecoming football game against our rival school. (Again, in it. And we finally won after 5 years of getting our asses kicked by them. ha!)
-Winterguard in competitions (Last year's theme. Not in it 'cause I wasn't even in the school that year. ... I'm a mere freshman right now. ;P)
So you guys know a little about what I do other than school and being online. It takes a LOT of commitment and discipline to be in something like guard so my life is literally split into three parts: School, cosplay (possibly), and guard. But at the same time, anyone willing to go through that will find it worthwhile to be a part of. Yes, we have to wake up an hour earlier than most people every day in school because guard's a 0 period and an actual class. Yeah, we have to put in at least 4 hours per practice nearly every Sunday during the season. Practicing on our own takes a considerable amount of time as well. But those who love guard such as myself don't even care. Because in the end, all that matters is showing the audience of what I can do.
